The Executive Committee Meeting of the Balkan Universities Association (BUA) was held online, hosted from the Meeting Hall of the Trakya University Rectorate.
The meeting, chaired by Trakya University Rector's Advisor and Assistant General Secretary Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali İhsan Meşe, was attended by Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Sanja Pekovic and Prof. Dr. Irena Oroviç from the University of Montenegro, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Anila Paparisto from the University of Tirana, Rector Prof. Dr. Nermina Hadzigrahic from the University of Tuzla, and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Luan Vardari from the University of Prizren. Also attending the meeting from our university were the Director of the School of Foreign Languages Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kutay Uzun and BUA Editorial Officer Lecturer Dr. Nurgül Sarsılmaz.
During the discussions, new membership applications, possible presidencies for the years 2027 and 2028, and the 9th BUA Annual Meeting planned to be held in Montenegro were on the agenda. The Vice Rector of the University of Montenegro, Prof. Dr. Sanja Pekovic, announced that they would prepare a draft program shortly and could hold the meeting at the beginning of 2026. At the meeting, it was also proposed to form sub-working groups within the scope of the annual meeting to be held in Montenegro.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali İhsan Meşe suggested topics for the Montenegro annual meeting such as Cultural Heritage and Shared Values of the Balkans, Economic Cooperation and Development in the Balkans, Political and Diplomatic Relations, Education and Youth Cooperation in the Balkans, Environment and Natural Resources Management in the Balkans, Media and Communication in the Balkans, Accreditation Process for Universities and Educational Units, and Partnerships and Joint Proposal Writing Processes in EU Projects. Furthermore, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali İhsan Meşe emphasized that Trakya University could be a candidate for the 2028 BUA Presidency.
The meeting concluded with wishes for continued strengthening of cooperation and solidarity among BUA member universities.
